eXplore A/V: Semester 1

During the first semester of my sophomore video production class i learned a lot about composing shots and editing that i wasn't taught last year. Our first project was a basic procedure video. we had to come up with a story and the shots that would make it all fit together. Our second project was an al audio interview just like on the radio. I didn't like this one very much because i like to create things people will watch, there needs to be pictures. Our third project was we had to go out and film a hobby that our partner did. I liked the idea of this one but we only had a week to do it and the time complications were so bad that none of us had a good story. The final project of semester one was where we all had to make a news show like the one our schools upperclassman do.

There was a kid in the class named Jared Coker and everyone was fascinated by him and his ability to catch snakes. Our whole class loved the kid for his quirkiness. About two weeks before the final week our eXplore A/V teacher, Mr. Allam was no longer our teacher and the Video Entertainment teacher came in and took his place. I really like Mrs. Morris and the way she teaches.

Some of the things we learned really helped us out while some didn't.  Mr. Allam taught us how to operate the camera and  how to have proper lighting.  The way he taught us how to edit was strict and not how I like to edit. He had us mark up all the videos first. The way i like and was taught to was to just use the blade tool and let my mind flow and just work form there.

The main thing we learned was how to do a broadcast in the studio wit hall the equipment professionals use. We also learned proper lighting, how to use Final Cut Pro and type a blogger post. We learned that if one person didn't hold up there end on a group project that the whole thing would flop.

Next semester, i want to work harder with different people, i want to improve in collaboration, communication, time management, and leadership. I know i want to do this in my future and hopefully for a career. I look forward for a good second semester.
